WOW! This thread really opened my eyes to some of the things that I've been praying. Not that what I've been praying for is bad, but I have to look at my motives and my heart when doing so. This is a topic that I've always wondered about. I've always heard people pray that bad things would happen to someone if they were to do something out of the will of God. I personally think that is witchcraft. We should never pray for the detriment of another. However, it is very important for us to check OUR motives/heart/intent when praying for others. Sometimes unknowingly, manipulation can slip in and that is where we have to be careful. Blessings, C2M |

This is the thread I was talking about in reference to people "knowing" if they are doing witchcraft or not. Sometimes we have to be taught what is and what is not witchcraft. __________________ ApostleJuanita |

Reply with quote | #15 | Hi Juanita, I got involved in this thread because you linked to my discussion of prayer on http://www.HealMyLife.com. I believe prayer moves toward witchcraft (our control rather spirit lead prayer) when we define outcomes very specifically. So praying that a person get sick every time they drink or smoke is witchcraft prayer because we figure out and impose the solution rather than let Jesus be Lord and listen for a prophetic prayer straight from heaven. To avoid witchcraft prayer I believe there needs to be listening to God so that we can be moved by the Spirit. David had three ways of listening to Yahweh: the priest with the special breastplate thing, the prophet and private listening to the Spirit (after all being the anointed means he is given the Spirit.) Saul killed the priests, lost the prophets and was not listening to God or obeying the word from the prophet. He lost the anointing. He was the one told "rebellion is as witchcraft." So, yes, praying too specifically for your will to be done in another life is 'witchcraft prayer' in my understanding of the topic.

Reply with quote | #16 | Regarding the individual who prayed that their loved one would be saved "no matter what had to happen to them". That prayer could act as a curse depending on the tone and attitude of the prayer.
However, if done in love and humility this might be a prayer of surrender. Same prayer with two different attitudes could be two different prayers.
I have had a woman who knew something was wrong with her husband (a pastor) who finally gave him completely over to God, letting go to let God. Two years later his abuse of massage parlors came out and she was devastated. A real prayer of surrender can get God moving. We take hands off and God moves. (This story had a happy ending after a lot of struggle, pain, healing and counseling.)
If instead of humble surrender there is bitterness and control we could well have a witchcraft prayer in this one. |

Reply with quote | #17 | Hello everyone, Blessings in the name of Jesus. I believe that any time we pray against the will of that person it is witchcraft. It is our responsible to offer the truth to folks, and it is up to them what they do with it. I think that we should pray that God will is done. Praying that a person get sick when they drink is witchcraft. No matter how badly we want someone to be save the decision is their's to make. This is just what I feel. God Bless |

Reply with quote | #18 | This is a great topic and well worth the discussion. I want to tackle the question of praying for the backslid or unsaved person.
First of all I would pray protection from them from blinding or deception by the enemy. I will honor their free choice but defend their free will from Satanic deception and game playing. "Father, may any veil over their minds be broken off so they can think for themselves. May they see clearly the choice before them. May the see the path of death and clearly see the consequences of choosing death.. I pray that there is no confusion, deception of playing with their minds."
Second I would ask that the Holy Spirit minister God's truth to them. The truth of God's love for them. The truth of God's goodness. The truth of forgiveness of sins and living without guilt and condemnation.
This second point I call 'sending the Holy Spirit' and it is best prayed when I am prepared to let go of my own efforts to influence the person and leave them in God's hands.
On my web site see: http://www.healmylife.com/articles/prayer/prayer-difficultpeople.htm
I might add that the only time I would pray that God do whatever is necessary to convert them is when you and others see that this person brings about evil wherever they are. I want this 'agent of evil' stopped no matter what. I want my loved ones and other protected and delivered from evil. I am acting as a shepherd of the flock.
This is a severe prayer for a severe situation. Use with caution. Because
You are actually going to ask that the Lord take them home if they continue to do evil and harm others and if they are going to resist God's efforts to save and transform them into agents of good. I am very careful in discernment before using this severe prayer of 'deliverance.' Seek some community support in discernment before using such severe prayer.

Reply with quote | #20 | Welcome George H!! I get what you are saying. You pray that their eyes can be opened to the truth with out any interference from satan. That is how I pray. I have a daughter that is only 13 but she is a handful. I have had dreams about her satan trying to destroy her mind. I have actually literally seen this dream manifest. He has a great desire for her. I went to your link and referenced the prayer you have laid out. I am in spiritual warfare right now and I am so tired. I ask that you stand in the gap for me. God bless. Your sister in Christ, 4everblessed |
